glass tops for lessNo matter how small the glass table top you need for your home expect to pay much more than you think if you call a glass company. Glass company usually charge more not because glass is expensive but for the time it takes to complete the order. I’m not saying that the top you need is not expensive but consider someone that needs a small piece 10″ X 10″  which is about $15-$35 depending on other details of the glass. You could get the same piece of glass from a retail store for less than $10 if it is part of another product you are buying. But if you break the glass and try to get another one it will cost you a lot more than you original paid for.

Glass tops are very popular among residential customers and there are unlimited combination of patterns to choose from. You will need to call a glass shop to draw a pattern for your table or other furniture because it is not a DIY project for most of us. If it is a circle, rectangle, oval, or square, then you can measure glass and provide other information over the phone to get a quote.

Most glass tops are clear tempered glass with 1/4′ – 1/2″ thickness. So it would be a good idea to have this information on hand before calling the pros. Here is the information you will need to provide or better yet get a similar glass piece to take it to a local glass shop.

General Information:

  • The size of the glass
  • Thickness of the glass 1/4″ – 1/2″

Edge Type

  • Pencil polish
  • Flat Polished
  • 1″ Bevel

Corners

  • 1″ Radius
  • Touch corner

You could have a rectangle glass top that is 1/4″ clear tempered with 1″ bevel and flat polished edge. This information is required when you are trying to get another glass that is exactly or similar to other tops you have in your home. If you are just trying to get glass top then ask what option are available and how much would it cost you.

If price matters to you than ask for the least expensive glass which would be most likely a 1/4″ cleat tempered with polish edges and without the bevel part. Sometimes glass company have “standard” glass stops on hand or scratched which are less expensive to buy. Shop around , take your time, and you could save almost 50% of the original cost. We usually get a glass tops that customers don’t accept because it was wrong measurement, incorrect thickness,  or our glass suppliers gave us the wrong glass. In this case, we offer the glass tops at a very good discount price to the general public because we have limited space.
